Empowering African Women
On July 3rd, 2024, Josephine Kamara hosted a historic event at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation, featuring the First Ladies of Sierra Leone, Cape Verde, and Burundi. This momentous gathering launched the “We Are Equal” campaign and celebrated Sierra Leone’s passage of the Child Marriage Act of 2024. Dr. Fatima M Bio, Sierra Leone’s First Lady, expressed her gratitude and highlighted the unity among African First Ladies in fighting for gender equality. The First Ladies discussed the challenges and triumphs of advocating for women’s rights, emphasizing the importance of continuous efforts to empower girls and women. This event marked a significant step towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all African women and girls.
