Sierra Leone Stands with Guinea as Vice President Juldeh Jalloh Leads High-Level Delegation to Deliver Solidarity, Aid, and Fuel Relief after Conakry Oil Depot Tragedy

I traveled to Guinea to deliver a special message of solidarity to President Mamady Doumbouya from His Excellency Julius Maada Bio following the tragic fire and destruction of the oil depot in Conakry on Sunday evening.

I led a high-level delegation comprising our Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Heads of the National Disaster Management Agency Petroleum Regulatory Agency, and a team of medical personnel. We put in place interim architecture to support Guinea’s access to petroleum products. Sierra Leone has donated three lorry loads of medical supplies to treat burn victims. This morning, 150 lorries traveled to Freetown to collect fuel to return to Conakry.

Sierra Leone’s gesture and commitment to stand with the government and people of Guinea has been well received with kind words of appreciation from President Mamady Doumbouya, Prime Minister Bernard Goumou, and other senior government officials.
